Conditions

Accessible to all sound and experimental musical practices of our time, GMEA accompanies the emergence of new musical forms coming from written, improvised, instrumental, electroacoustic or electronic music. Each year, GMEA welcomes musicians or ensembles for around twenty five-day sessions to permit creation, recording, or research. Particular attention will be given to projects that include an experimental process. Diversity in composition of teams will also be a determining factor. Two of the selected projects are welcome for two-week residencies as part of tekhne.

Means

GMEA provides a workspace and a technical and administrative team available for the selected artists according to their needs. These residencies take place in the GMEA (studios and rehearsal room), or at partner venues (theaters, churches, outdoor spaces, etc.). GMEA covers travel costs to Albi for artists based in Europe, the accommodation, and the meal fees for the time of residency. An additional financial support for production and also structuring assistance could be considered depending on each project. In agreement with the artists, the GMEA regularly organizes open meeting times with the audience to introduce them to experimental practices.
