Open Call: tekhnē online residency

deadline on

OUT.RA and Skaņu Mežs are launching an open call to select two artists to develop online residencies for the tekhnē sound art project.

An online residency entails a virtual, non-physical, or hybrid project that uses technology’s emancipatory potential, in line with tekhnē’s aims - by engaging critically and creatively or unorthodoxly with technology. The project focuses on the user rather than the developer, technologies and methodologies can be demystified and lead to more autonomous mindsets towards the tools around us.  These residencies are aimed at artists interested in producing online or hybrid work who would benefit from curatorial support. For this residency, two artists will be selected via an open call, one from within the EU and one from outside of the EU. We accept either solo or joint (duo) applications.

Online residencies last two months, after which an outcome is requested. Artists will be tasked with developing online or hybrid work, to be presented, for instance, as a podcast, online radio, website, etc.  Where appropriate, and if feasible, the results may be shown in the partners' festivals as well.

We are looking to select applicants for two solo residencies or one collaborative residency as long as the duo comprises one EU-based member and one non-EU-based member.  The available amount is 750€ per artist.

Applications will be accepted solely via this online form. Details needed are:

• Country of residence

• Artist bio and links to examples of works

• Specify what kind of work you’d like to produce - whether solo or in duo. If the project is submitted as a duo, be mindful that one member must be EU based and the other non-EU based

• Project description and name

• Envisioned presentation format

• Deadline: Apr 20, 2025
