Os Heróis Indianos Romanos Africanos play SMUP
Os Heróis Indianos Romanos Africanos is a musical collective that has been performing annually for audiences in Barreiro since 2016. The group is part of a project led by OUT.RA in partnership with Associação NÓS, a local nonprofit dedicated to social inclusion for people with so-called “disabilities” or those at risk of social disadvantage or exclusion, using music as a tool for empowerment and transformation.
Under the leadership of the charismatic and visionary Alan Courtis—an Argentinian musician and sound traveler best known as the founder of the legendary band Reynols (the first band starring a member with Down’s Syndrome to be featured on the cover of magazines like The Wire or receive extensive coverage in The New York Times)—the project is assisted by musicians André Neves, Bá Alvares, and Leonardo Bindilatti. The year 2025 marks a special milestone: for the first time, the band will cross the Tagus River to perform at SMUP in Parede on February 22 at 5:00 PM. The concert promises to be an inspiring and surprising experience, reaffirming music’s transformative power in fostering autonomy, creativity, and self-expression.
