Talk with Erik Dæhlin
Norwegian composer Erik Dæhlin presents the concepts behind his new piece, “da última vez”, an outdoor performance in two parts taking place at the exact coordinates 38.6664° N, 9.0685° W and 38.6660° N, 9.0672° W. Commissioned by OUT.FEST, the work was developed and will be performed in the heart of Barreiro’s former industrial area, near the mausoleum of the late industrialist Alfredo da Silva.\ In his presentation, Dæhlin will explore the evolving relationship between a foreign artist and a site over time: how this connection is shaped in the space between dream and reality, and through dialogue with the people involved. He will also reflect on the allure of post-industrial sites and their strange, vivid, and at times unsettling resonance in our present day, illustrating how compositional, relational, and process-based methods are deeply intertwined with social, environmental, and historical contexts.
