Idealistic Festival at TRAFO: Sound, Improvisation and Experimentation

On 23 October 2026, TRAFO hosts the Szczecin edition of Idealistic Festival, bringing experimental music, improvisation and sound art into the gallery space. The event accompanies the international tekhnē symposium, taking place on 22–23 October in Szczecin, and forms part of a programme connecting independent music scenes across Poland, Denmark and beyond.

Now in its eighth edition, Idealistic Festival takes place in two cities for the first time: Gdańsk (25–27 September 2026) and Szczecin (23 October 2026). Founded in 2019 by musicians Kamil Piotrowicz and Szymon Pimpon Gąsiorek, the festival champions uncompromising artistic expression, bringing together artists with distinctive approaches to music regardless of genre, popularity or career stage.

At TRAFO, sound installations, improvised performances and electronic music will transform the exhibition space into a setting for immersive listening. Moving beyond the traditional concert format, Idealistic places artists and audiences at the centre of the space, using immersive sound systems to create new ways of experiencing sound.

The Szczecin programme features a large-scale sound installation, Tubatek, by Beata Zając and Zofia Pysz — the first ceramic sound system created by the artists — alongside performances by Polish and international sound artists.

About Idealistic Festival

Idealistic Festival was founded in 2019 by musicians Kamil Piotrowicz (wræżlivøść, Kamil Piotrowicz Sextet, Hałvva, Hirjjo, Wojtczak/Piotrowicz, LAWAAI) and Szymon Pimpon Gąsiorek (Pimpono Ensemble, E/I, Czajka & Puchacz, Love & Beauty Music). Inspired by grassroots initiatives promoting independent and uncompromising music, they created a platform to connect and strengthen the independent music scene, building a bridge between Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe.

Previous editions have taken place in Copenhagen, Warsaw, Gdańsk and Ljubljana, presenting more than one hundred artists. The festival has received positive coverage in publications including Glissando, Dwutygodnik, JazzPress, Seismograf, Polifonia and Passive/Aggressive.
