tekhnē Symposium
Tekhnē Symposium in Szczecin will bring together artists, researchers, musicians, and practitioners to reflect on and round off the project. It will provide an opportunity to share the knowledge, experiences, and artistic outcomes developed throughout the project, while opening up a space for discussion around the future of sound, music, and technology.
The symposium aims to bring together the various strands of the project and initiate a reflection on its possible artistic, curatorial, and methodological continuations. We will consider how tekhnē – Be Aware of Sound resonates with different strands of the humanities and a range of artistic practices. The central point of the programme will be the launch of a collective publication summarising the project. The themes explored during the symposium will also be continued during the Szczecin edition of this year’s Idealistic Festival, which begins on 23 October at TRAFO.
tekhnē – Be Aware of Sound is a collaborative European project exploring the emancipatory potential of technology in music and sound art. It focuses on developing more critical, creative, and autonomous relationships with technology, placing artists and users at the centre of technological experimentation and knowledge production.
Through artist residencies, commissions, workshops, performances, exhibitions, talks, publications, and radio broadcasts, tekhnē brings together artistic practice, research, education, and critical reflection. The project encourages experimentation with sound and technology while questioning how technological tools are developed, used, understood, and shared.
