Lutheries expérimentales
A seminar-meeting in the heart of a forest.
The term lutherie is generally associated with the making of plucked or bowed stringed instruments. With the technical and technological evolution of contemporary instruments, it's time to update the definition. In the practice of experimental music, the making of the instrument is often at one with the aesthetics of the music produced. From imagination to conception, a politics of “making” is revealed, where the process takes on as much importance as the result. Where the recovery of objects and techniques, their detour and discarding, have no value other than their sonic properties. The result is the emergence of music that transcends the usual boundaries.
