Residency

Adomas Palekas residency report

Adomas Palekas' ongoing research questions the material boundaries of electronics and searches for cracks through which to ‘contaminate’ the inherently anthropocentric domain of sound culture. Adomas explores sound practices that are inclusive of and attentive to our biotic and abiotic environments—non-sterile practices that invite the environment not as an extractivist resource, but as a force that ‘contaminates’ and reshapes functionality from within. With a focus on extended sound circuits, non-human listeners, and other elemental reciprocities, Adomas invites us to reconsider the growing divide between nature and technology, and to imagine how sound and listening might serve as a bridging medium in this context.
