CTM 2025 workshop: Music & Dis/ability: Inclusive Perspectives
A2A Transmission workshop with: Alan Courtis (AT)
Over the last century music has drastically expanded its possibilities through a diversity of aesthetics, sound sources, techniques, and technologies. How are all these changes affecting the field of music and dis/ability? Can these emerging ideas help to overcome the prejudices and false myths? How are pedagogical paradigms developing in music? Can alternative techniques or adaptations be useful? What could software and apps contribute to this specific field? Is it all about teaching or do we have something to learn from musicians with dis/ability? What kind of responsibility should society as a whole have to promote a more inclusive music scene?
Showing audio and video examples from diverse music projects involving people with dis/ability, this workshop will try to answer these questions, making a reflection on the social, artistic and historic aspects and focusing on its problems and potentials. The workshop will also include a dialogue with local institutions working in the area of dis/ability and it will end practically with an inclusive musical activity. Requirements
This workshop is open to all, no prior knowledge is required.
